Facebook suspends Donald Trump’s account for two years

It punishes the former US president for violating the rules of the popular social network in the seizure of the Capitol by his followers

Facebook announced this Friday that the suspension of the account of former US President Donald Trump is two years, the maximum punishment, the company said, for violating the rules of the social network in the seizure of the Capitol by his followers.

“Given the severity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe that his actions constituted a serious violation of our rules that deserve the highest penalty available under the new protocols,” said Facebook’s vice president of global affairs, Nick. Clegg, in a post.

Facebook also said that politicians will be treated like other users when they violate the rules of the social network, in particular in case of misinformation.
